SUMMARY:Meet Your Allies
DESCRIPTION:Racism against Muslims is rampant in our country and we need to stand up against it. We need to come together as diverse communities to protect one another and unite. \nIf we remain divided\, and make it easy for the government to pin us against each other\, these fascist leaders will continue to use us as pawns in their dirty\, corrupt games. \nWhen our communities are in danger\, we need to stand strong together. By sharing spaces to learn about one another\, we build relationships and bonds that can not be broken by myths and false information. \nLet’s start by coming together for a meaningful community conversation about Confronting Islamophobia in America. \n🗓 Saturday\, May 30\, 2026\n🕒 3–6 PM\n📍 Al Nahda Center – Oak Lawn \nFeaturing panelists and authors Anna Piela and Michael Woolf (Confronting Islamophobia in the Church: Liturgical Tools for Justice). \nWe’ll be discussing: \n• The realities of Islamophobia in America\n• The role of solidarity in confronting hate\n• How Muslims and allies can challenge racism and division \nThis is a space to connect with advocates\, faith leaders\, and community members committed to justice and understanding. \n✅ Free admission (in-person only)\n🍽 Refreshments will be served \nRegister here:\ntinyurl.com/MYAIslam \nHosted by:\nAdvocates 4 Justice | Al Nahda Center | Mennonite Action Chicago | Challenging Islamophobia Together Chicagoland (CITC) \nCome be part of a respectful\, grounded dialogue where every voice matters 🤝

SUMMARY:5 Broken Cameras: Film Screening & Conversation with Iyad Burnat
DESCRIPTION:Advocates 4 Justice invites you to join us for a screening of the Academy Award-nominated documentary 5 Broken Cameras and a conversation with Palestinian human rights activist Iyad Burnat. \nFilmed in the West Bank village of Bil’in\, 5 Broken Cameras tells the story of a community confronting the loss of its land through nonviolent protest. Told through the lens of a Palestinian family\, the film documents years of demonstrations\, military raids\, arrests\, and the daily realities of life under occupation. The result is an intimate and powerful record of both hardship and perseverance. \nFollowing the film\, attendees will hear directly from Iyad Burnat\, a co-founder and leader of the Bil’in Committee Against the Wall. Burnat’s work and the story of his family helped bring international attention to Bil’in’s grassroots movement and its commitment to nonviolent resistance. \nAt Advocates 4 Justice\, we believe education is the first step toward meaningful action. By creating opportunities to hear directly from those living through injustice\, we hope to encourage deeper understanding\, informed discussion\, and greater engagement on issues affecting Palestinians and other communities facing discrimination and inequality around the world. \nWe hope you will join us for this opportunity to learn\, reflect\, and participate in an important conversation. \nDate: Tuesday\, June 16\, 2026\nDoors Open: 5:45 PM\nFilm Screening: 6:00 PM\nDiscussion with Iyad Burnat: Immediately Following the Film\nLocation: Lake Street Church of Evanston\, 1450 Chicago Avenue\, Evanston\, IL 60201 \nThis is an i-person event only. Refreshments will be served.
